10 Steps to Turn Videos into Blog Posts (with Images)

In this post, I will show you how to turn a video into a blog post using AI.

I’ll be using VideoToBlog AI, a tool that you can activate for a free trial here.

This tool doesn’t just create text, but it actually takes screenshots of your videos too—and places them where they belong in the post.

Let’s go!

Step-by-Step Guide

Here’s a video related to bird-watching that I want to turn into a blog post.

#1 Sign Up

Sign up to VideoToBlog to get your free trial first.

#2 Create New Project

Once you’ve logged in and activated your free trial, you’ll see your dashboard.

Click the + icon on the Dashboard to start a new video-to-blog post project.

#3 Pick a Video

Choose a video you want to turn into a blog post.

Here’s how you can get a shareable link to a YouTube video:

Copy and paste the link to this view:

It takes the AI a couple of seconds to find the video. After it does, it will show you the title and thumbnail:

#4 Tweak the Settings

At this point, everything is clear, and you can click on the generate post button.

But we’re not going to do that yet.

That’s because now you should tweak the blog post settings to create a high-quality blog post. The more detailed the input you give, the better the outcome.

You can do this in the Custom Instructions section of the blog post.

  • I told the AI to use a casual tone of voice.
  • I asked it to leave out jargon and filler words. Most importantly, I did not want to use any other information but the one found in the video.

#5 Ask to Add Images

A blog post without visuals (or with Unsplash/AI-generated visuals) is worth nothing. I’ve never earned a dollar from those “text-only” posts that just regurgitate stuff.

Every blog post should “add to the internet.”

One of the best ways to do this is by using unique and original visuals that nobody else has used before. That is, by taking visuals from your videos and adding those to blog posts.

To auto-add visuals to your blog post, just select the “Add Screenshots”.

Don’t forget to tell the AI how many images you want it to add in the Custom Instructions section.

I told the AI to add at least 20–30 images because I think in a good blog post, there’s no part that’s just a wall of text. There should always be an image visible.

#6 Tweak More Settings

You can tweak more settings, too, if necessary. For example, I chose an “informal” writing style from More Options.

Tip: Scroll to the bottom of the page to save the custom instructions and settings into a template, by the way!

#7 Generate the Post

At this point, you’re ready to create your blog post. To do that, click on “Create Blog Post.”

#8 Wait

Then, wait for a couple of minutes.

If you asked it to create a 700-word piece of content, it should be ready in less than 2 minutes.

Notice that the AI will first write the post without images! Then, after the writing is done, it will add the images to it.

Don’t let this confuse you. When I tried it for the first time, I was a bit confused because I just saw text being generated. But then, all of a sudden, the images popped up there.

#9 Tweak the Post

Here’s what my AI-generated blog post looks like:

The intro looks decent, the title is good, and the video is embedded nicely.

But that’s basic stuff.

Let’s scroll the post down a bit further to see the magic in action:

The AI took the right screenshots from the right spots of the video and placed them where they belonged.

Now, that is pretty cool and super useful.

Obviously, there were some tiny issues I had to fix.

For example, the nighttime and daytime images are in the wrong order. But that’s just 10 seconds of extra work for me.

But the good part is that VideoToBlog is also a proper blog post editor. You can tweak all the settings you’d normally do in any other blogging platform.

#10 Quick-Select Screenshots

If you spot a wrong screenshot, click on the image and choose the right one from the AI-captured screenshots.

#11 Enter the “Screenshot Mode”

If you still can’t find the right one, you can always click on the three dots to enter the screenshot mode.

This opens up the original video, and you can go through it frame by frame with this editor to find the right screenshot.

Then just click on the “Screenshot at” button to insert a screenshot from that frame into the blog post.

This feature’s already super handy on its own — no more screenshotting manually.

The scrub bar lets you go frame by frame at 0.1s intervals, so you’re not missing anything.

#12 Use the “/” Operator

The VideoToBlog editor also has that slash-command thing like WordPress.

Just type ‘/’ and choose ‘screenshot’ whenever you want to drop one in.

Also, you have a whole bunch more content blocks you can drag and drop into the view this way.

#13 Do the Final Edits

The AI post is never perfect and ready as-is. Some screenshots are a bit off, and the writing’s not fully in my voice every time.

That’s why you still need to do some tweaks.

But honestly, it’s like 80–90% there. For example, the post that I’ve been showing here took me 10 minutes to clean up for publishing. That’s hours of saved time!

#14 Export

Once your blog post is good to go, you can export it straight to your site on WordPress, Medium, or even just plain HTML (plus a lot more options).

However, I just used the good ol’ copy and paste because I think that’s just as fast, if not faster, because I didn’t have to do any integrations.

That’s how you create a blog post from a video!

To Take Home

That’s how easy it is to create a blog post from a video.

Just remember to use your own videos! This is a personal branding thing. You can’t just randomly select other creators’ videos and turn those into blog posts.

I recommend trying VideoToBlog AI. It’s one of the best uses for AI that I’ve encountered, and they have good ratings for a reason.
