Let’s quickly highlight the key features of Aiarty Image Matting:

- Manual Editing Tools: Fine-tune with brushes and erasers.
- Background Replacement: Easily swap backgrounds with colors, blur, or images.

Now, let’s see how it performs in practice!
My Experience
To use Aiarty Image Matting to remove your background, open this page and download a trial.

Here’s the default image background removal view:

To remove a background, drag and drop an image to this view and click “Start.”

I started the AI with default settings (you can adjust the AI model and hardware in the top right). It took longer than free tools, which are faster but often sacrifice quality.

Here’s a before-after view:

The matting detail is impressive, far better than free tools.
Aiarty isn’t just for background removal — it also lets you easily replace backgrounds with colors or custom images.

You can create a mask to silhouette the AI-matted object, then fill the gap with something else.

I liked the Blur option, accessible on the right panel. It softened the busy forest background, reducing contrast for a cleaner look.

There are different blur modes too! Motion blur adds a sense of movement, though it didn’t suit my image — it still works well!

You can also turn your background into black and white.

Now, have a look at this result:

What amazes me is the precision.
Usually, the background is just partially removed once you zoom close enough.
But this AI removed the background so accurately. Even individual hair has been separated from the background.
Epic!
Just as a little comparison, here’s a result I got with a free tool:

As you can see, a typical free tool gives a blurry image with a roughly removed background.
Aiarty Image Matting is also good for removing AI image backgrounds.
Here’s an example:

Despite the dark hair blending with the background, the AI perfectly removed the subject — far better than free tools.
I’m impressed!
To change the background, drag and drop an image, press “Start” formatting, and view the before-after results as before.

Then click “Background” on the right and choose the image icon from the options that open up:

Click the image icon and choose a background. Here’s a new background I added to the view:

Pros
- Extremely accurate. I don’t think AI can get any better. The Matting tool by Aiarty removes objects from the background with a near 100% precision.
- Easy to use. Just download the tool, drag and drop the image to the view, and start!
- Image editing modes. You can apply edits to your backgrounds and objects in your images easily with the built-in features.
- Free trial. Despite being a downloadable piece of software, there is a free trial you can try before committing to a paid plan!
Cons
- Free tools are available for less precise tasks like thumbnails but lack quality for product images or ads.
- Pricing may feel high ($99) for casual background changes, like for thumbnails or invitations.
Pricing

- Standard: $49/year
- Lifetime: $75 one-time
- Commercial: $1,999

2. Remove BG

Remove.BG is an AI background remover that’s free and super easy to use.
You don’t need to crop and smart lasso your image for hours. Instead, just drag and drop an image for the AI and wait for 5 seconds.
Features
Here are some of the core features:
- Background Removal: AI-powered background removal for images and videos.
- Magic Brush: Tool for editing images.
- API & Integrations: Access API and tools for developers.
- Photoshop Extension: Available for easy integration.
- Platforms Supported: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android.
- Design Templates: Pre-made templates for design tasks.
- Video Background Removal: For removing backgrounds from videos.
- Enterprise Solutions: Tailored services for large businesses.
Now let me show you my experience with the tool and how to use it.
My Experience
To remove an image background with remove.bg, just drag and drop your image to this view:

For example, here’s an image of myself that I want to remove the background from:

After dragging and dropping the image into the view, I got this back in 3 seconds:

This is epic. I didn’t even need to sign up.
But the problem is that because it’s a free tool, it will not give you the sharpest result. You see, you can only download a small 500×500 version of your image in my case. That’s way less than what the image quality actually is.
To download a better version, you need a paid plan.
Also, it’s not perfect. The AI remover is always a bit of a dice roll. If something is going on in the image, you can use the AI eraser feature to remove the background more accurately.

3. Canva

Canva is a popular online design tool. If you’re using it already, it might be an insightful tip to learn that there’s a background remover feature.
To remove a background with Canva, follow these steps.
First, drop an image to the view:

Then click on the “BG Remover” button:

Then wait for 3 seconds for the AI to run through your image:

Then enjoy the result:

However, the background removal in Canva is a paid feature so if you’re not running the paid Canva plan, this probably is not a good reason alone to pay for it.
That being said, Canva is a great tool for beginners like me and I use it a lot for different design purposes—not just to remove backgrounds.
For example, most of my YouTube thumbnails are made with Canva (and part of the process is removing the background from the images.

4. iOS Native Camera App
If you’re an iOS owner, you can remove a background from your images natively without having to download an app or visit a website.
In the newer iOS versions, all you need to do is:
- Take an image.
- Hold your finger on the object you want to extract.
- Click “Copy” and paste it to for example a chat or a note.
Here’s a gif that shows me doing it on my iPhone:
Here’s my result:

As you can see, it’s nowhere near as good as the dedicated tools I showed in this list.
But this is probably the easiest option if you run iOS.
Also, there are no limitations on how many times you can do this, unlike the online tools that quickly ask you to pay.
