I Tried 20+ AI Detectors. This One Is the Winner

Winston AI is my overall favorite AI detector right now, after testing over 25 of those.

It checks blogs, GPT outputs, images, and even detects plagiarism.

Let me show you how it works and how to use it.

My Results

Winston is easy to get started with. Just create an account and open the app.

Then, you’ll see a screen like this:

Pick between AI text detection or AI image detection.

1. Text Content Scan

Winston AI can scan any piece of text and tell you how likely it was written by AI.

On the dashboard, click “Start content scan.”

Drop the text to a view that looks like this:

Hit “Scan text”.

After a few seconds, you’ll get a score page that looks like this:

It gives a human score from 0 to 100%.

0 means the text is completely AI, and 100% means it’s completely human-written.

It also shows which parts of the text were likely written by AI. There’s a readability score too, but I’ll talk about that later.

I tried Winston AI to see how well it works. I used samples from my own blog posts that I wrote by hand, and here’s what I found:

That’s good. It got all of them right.

Next, I tried some AI-generated text. Here’s the first one I made with ChatGPT:

This is the score:

Nice! It says the text is 1% human, which means it’s AI-written—and that’s right.

Let’s try another one:

Here’s the score:

Again, it gave the text a near-zero human score since I made it with AI.

Let’s try one more:

The score came back as 1% human, so the tool got it right again.

Make sure to scroll down the report and see which parts Winston marks as AI-written.

You can also hover over each part of the text to see its individual score.

Remember, no AI detector is 100% accurate.

AI models keep changing, and their patterns change too. That makes it harder to detect until the tools update.

Formal writing can also be tough to tell apart from AI text.

The shorter the text, the harder it is to tell if it’s AI or human.

2. Readability Score

Next, let’s look at the readability score.

You’ll find it in the bottom sliders of the text editor, in the same spot where you can run the plagiarism check:

I took this example post.

Here’s the score I got for it:

It also gave me a list of tips to make the text easier to read.

To fix a suggestion, click “Correct” in the top corner of it.

This swaps the red crossed-out text with the blue suggestion.

Of course, readability is just one part of writing a good blog post.

The most important thing for bloggers and SEOs is sharing unique information—something other people haven’t covered.

Without that, your content won’t rank.

But once you have unique content, better readability can lift it and help cover all the important points.

3. The AI Image Scan

Next, let’s look at the AI image scan feature.

You can upload images, and Winston AI will check if they were made by tools like MidJourney or DALL·E.

ChatGPT said:

It doesn’t just check resolution or metadata. It looks for visual patterns that show AI-generated images.

For example, it said my image was 95% human, which is correct since it’s a real photo.

That gave it almost a 100% human score, which is right.

Finally, check out the integrations. They let you link Winston AI with your favorite apps.

For example, if you use Winston with Chrome, you can install the extension and run it on any page.

Isn’t that handy?
