Let’s start with creating the business card.

Step 1: Open QRCodeChimp

First, open QRCodeChimp.com.

You should see a view like this:

Step 2: Choose a Digital Business Card

Pick a QR code use case from the top bar.

I picked the Digital Business Cards option for this tutorial.

Step 3: Pick a template

Next, QRCodeChimp asks you to create a digital business card from scratch.

This is easy, though. Just use the templates and follow the guidelines.

Start by choosing a page template.

I chose the minimalistic one:

Create a profile for your online business card.

This information is shared on your business card, so make sure it’s accurate and relevant.

You can also add more fields as you need.

On top of that, you can also customize form settings and choose from pre-designed form templates.

This makes it even easier to get started.

Fill in all the necessary details your professional business card needs.

If you don’t want all these, though, you can hit Delete on any fields.

My card starts to look good now:

I added my basic information with some social links. I removed the address and call-to-action option.

Step 5: Collect Contacts (optional)

If you want to, you can create a contact form that lets you collect your prospect’s contact details.

This is possible in the Content section at the bottom of the page.

Once you click that, you can choose from a template or create a new one.

I found it handy to use an existing template, because there are lots of templates for different use cases.

If you select the Show Inline option, your contact form will show inside the contact card.

This is useful because now you can not only share your details, but people can automatically find you and send their contact details your way.

Step 6: Design it

Now that the business card information is in place, it’s time to change the outlook.

Once again, this is super easy because of the templates and built-in design options.

Just click the “Design/Settings” tab to proceed.

I like the beige style, so I went with it.

You can customize everything here. Just click the plus icons to add a new design customization.

Step 7: Pick a QR style

Then, you can choose a QR code style from a library of different styles as opposed to using the traditional one.

It’s crazy how many customization options you have here!

You can choose a custom shape for the QR.

You can pick a pre-built one as well.

You can insert your QR into a sticker.

You can customize the colors:

Heck, you can even customize the QR code shapes.

You can add a logo to the QR code. You can choose an existing logo, or you can upload your own.

Lastly, you can also customize your image with a QR code.

I love these customization options. These let you stand out, and you can quite literally do everything you might imagine here.

When customizing your QR code, keep in mind that people are most familiar with the traditional black-and-white format.

Step 8: Save

Then, save your QR code and give it a name.

Step 9: Use it

Once you’ve saved your QR code, it’s live. Now you can share it.

On top of using it as a QR code, you can also share a link to the business card.

When someone scans your QR code or clicks the link, they’ll see your digital business card.

To create a digital business card with Uniqode, first, head over to their website.

Pick the Digital Business Cards option.

Then sign up for the service.

Choose the cards option again.

Then specify your details:

Don’t forget to add your profile picture to the card by tapping the profile photo icon.

Once you’ve created this basic first draft of your card, you can go to customize it further in the dashboard.

I’ll show you how to create a business card and what my cards look like with no design background.

To create with Wisery, first, head over to this page. Click “Try business cards”.

This tool allows you to start creating without even signing up. So the next step is to pick a template from the templates library:

I chose this template since I thought it looked the best for my use case:

To make your cards, give them your name:

And add some more basic information about yourself to make it complete.

You can also insert social media profiles at this stage.

Then set the page URL.

This makes the link look not fishy. For example, I had something like “X862wrnqewr” as the URL ending, so I changed that to “artturijalli”.

Looks a lot better, doesn’t it?

After this step, you’ll see your digital business card’s initial version.

If you need to, make sure to tweak the title and bio. Also, make sure to change your profile image to yours.

I like Wisery for its simple user interface and great user experience. Whenever you change your business card, you’ll immediately see the changes take place on the right-hand side preview.

If you just want a quick solution for a business card, there you go. But if you want more customization, don’t stop there just yet. There are other features you might want to use to make it complete.

You can add blocks to your cards from the left-hand side menu.

For example, I added an email block to my business card so that people can contact me more easily.

Also, you can change your card’s theme and colors by going to the left-hand side menu.

Whenever you’re ready, you can save your card by signing up for the service.

The card I just created is the digital business page.

But something you should also do is get a digital wallet card from Wisery. This replaces the physical business cards.

That’s easy. Just click the “Step 2. Create wallet card” at the top of the page.

Similar to how you created the main digital business card page, you can specify your information for the wallet card in the editor.

Once you’re ready, you can add your wallet card to your iOS/Android device’s electronic wallet.

In iOS, this is handy because you can share it by double-clicking the on/off button. Then your peer just needs to read the QR code with their smart device, and your card will be added to their wallet.

Then sign in to the service.

Then share your information, such as your name, email, and mobile phone number.

After this, your card is ready. You can view those in a view that looks like this. For me, HiHello created two cards: One for personal use and one for work.

You can click those cards to view them. This opens up the business card’s main view. In this view, you can check how many people have viewed and saved your card.

You can also use the QR code in the dashboard to share your card (as well as use the link on the right to share it as a traditional link.)

If you click your shared link or scan the QR code, you can view what your card looks like.

Then, on the left-hand side, you have a bunch of options.

For example, if you want, you can add contacts on the contacts tab, and so on. This makes it much easier than having to exchange numbers manually and keep them in the contacts list. Instead, you can do it all in one place.

My Experience and Results

To start using ShareEcard, head over to their homepage and scroll a bit below. You can create a free card by using an existing template. If you want to use a custom design, then you need a paid plan.

But there are lots of good templates to choose from, so I went with those.

Once you’ve chosen a template, it’s time to customize your card. The editor is easy to use. Just drag things around as you need. Also, you can click elements to activate the editor bar on the left to make changes.

The only thing I didn’t like about it was that the image editor was poor. If the template has a placeholder for a rounded image, then why is there no image rounding feature? That’s the only problem I had with the editor.

Also, I noticed that the Ctrl + Z feature didn’t work, so I had to manually use the undo button. That’s not a big issue, but a missing feature I’ve not encountered anywhere else for at least a year or two.

Anyways, then it’s time to review the card and order. If your card uses a template, it’s free — but you still need to “order” it.

To create a business card with Haystack, install the app:

Enter your email address for the card with which you want people to contact you.

Choose a company logo.

On the left below, you see the list of suggested logos. If you don’t find your company on the list, just click “I don’t see my logo here.” You can add it to the right-hand side view.

Then just enter your details, and you’re good to go!

The app asks you to sign up to save the card. I used Google to sign up to save clicks and from having to remember yet another password.

Once you’ve signed up, your card is saved. This is what mine looks like.

It’s time to share the card!

You can copy a link to it and send it to everyone. If the recipient doesn’t have the app, they will see your card on a website, like in the right-hand-side image below:

The viewer can view more details by clicking the “View card details” button. This lets them see all the company and contact details you added to the card. And if they happen to be using the app, they can save your card as well as send one back your way.

Pros

  • You can use both the mobile app and the browser to create your cards. This is not the same for all the apps.
  • This one is easy to use, too! Just sign up and enter your details, and your card is ready to be used.

Cons

  • Naturally, the free plan has limitations, such as the social media links that are available on some other cards for free. Also, the analytics are very basic for free users
  • I didn’t like the user experience. Even though it was easy to use, there are so many smoother and more modern-looking platforms that I was very close to not trying this one at all.

9. Adobe

Lastly, we have Adobe. What a surprise! They’re everywhere.

Nonetheless, the Adobe Business Card design tool is an app for creating those smooth-looking digital business cards you can then share.

But Adobe is not a platform to host the contacts or do CRM integrations. So, if you’re looking for customization and the best designs, go with Adobe. But if you want a card that has features other than just the design and a link to it, pick another product.

Let me show you how it works and what it did for me.

My Experience and Results

To start using Adobe Digital Business Card, first, you need to sign up for Adobe. You can do so here.

Then, you will see a view like this:

Feel free to select a pre-made template (unless you’re a designer.)

Once you’ve selected a theme, it’s time to edit your card.

That’s easy. Just click on the elements you want to change. For example, to change the profile image, just click on the image once or twice to activate it. Drag and drop a new image into the view to replace the existing one.

You can also move elements around. But I recommend keeping things as is because those pre-made themes are made by professionals and look good the way they are.

Here’s what my final result looks like:

Isn’t that cool? With literally 45 seconds of work, I was able to create a proper business card.

But that’s not all! You can also share your card neatly by clicking “Share” in the top right corner.

This allows you to invite people to view your card. You can create a viewable link or even share it on social media.

Customization

Adobe offers the most customization options. You can quite literally do everything from creating a logo to editing your images, changing colors, tweaking fonts, and more.

This is good, especially if you like to design things and have expertise there. But also, thanks to the templates, you can use this tool without experience.

Integrations

Integrations are limited!

You can share your cards on social media. That’s handy, but because Adobe is a design platform, there are no CRM integrations or robust analytics for your cards. So, if you’re looking for more than just a design, use another platform on the list.

  • Integration with Adobe’s image editing features improves the quality of the cards — especially if you’re good at using Adobe’s tools.
  • There’s a great selection of templates you can use almost as is — all you need to do is fill in your information and drag elements around if you want.
  • The platform is good for designs and allows for the most customization on that front.

Cons

  • No integrations for professional use — it’s just a design platform (with a shareable link to your card).
  • The learning curve is steep if you want to do more advanced designs because you have to learn to become a designer.

So, what’s the best?

As you can see, these digital card platforms are similar to one another. They all cost between $0 and $7 per month, and they all integrate with social media and CRMs.

So which one is the best?

  • If you want a shareable and managed digital business card, just pick the #1 tool on this list (which at the time of writing is Blinq). I found it to be the easiest to use and the most up-to-date when it comes to user experience, features, and maintenance.
  • If you want more customization and just a plain digital card without the management features and analytics, use Adobe. That’s just for designs, in my opinion!
