I tried the Boomy AI Music Generator and went through its main features, along with the pros and cons.
I’ll also explain what rights you get for the music you make with it.

My Experience
To start using Boomy, just head to their website and sign up with your email, Google, or Facebook account.

Now you’re ready to try the free trial and start making music.
To create your first song, pick a style you like. You can choose one from the list or go with “Custom,” which lets you adjust everything yourself.

For testing purposes, I chose the Lo-Fi option. First, you just need to select your preferred style from the list.

After that, you’ll be taken to the Boomy song creation screen. Here, you can tweak the instruments, change or rewrite parts of your track, and even add vocals.

The instrumental parts are organized into separate menus, making it easy to edit no matter your skill level.

By clicking the small play icon, you can preview the sound before choosing it.

This feature lets you add vocals and lyrics to your song. You can either generate them automatically or upload your own voice recording to be mixed into the track.
I wasn’t able to properly test the Auto Vocal option because the interface was laggy and kept throwing errors. Instead, I uploaded a short voice recording, which the tool added to my track automatically. It mixed the vocals and music on its own, and I couldn’t adjust the balance or settings.

Here’s what the “Custom” style menu looks like. You can adjust everything to your liking, from the composition to the sound effects.

Boomy’s FAQ section includes some interesting questions about the ethics of AI-generated music. It’s worth checking out if you’re curious about that side of things.

Unfortunately, the Free plan doesn’t let you download the tracks you create, so I can’t share any samples here.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Large selection of genres
- Commercial rights with Pro and Creator plans
Cons
- The UI is slow to respond (laggy)
- Very limited editing options
- Generated tracks weren’t very high quality
Pricing
Here are the current pricing plans of Boomy.

- Free: $0/month
- Creator: $14/month, now $9.99/month
- Pro: $39/month, now $29.99/month
Usage Rights
The Creator and Pro plans give you full commercial rights to all the music you make while your subscription is active. This means you can download your songs and upload them to platforms like Spotify.
The Free plan doesn’t include those rights, so you can only use the music for personal use.
If you cancel your subscription, you’ll keep the rights to everything you created while subscribed. However, anything you make after canceling won’t include commercial rights.
To Take Home
Boomy AI is a music and audio creation tool powered by AI. It’s designed for beginners and intermediate users thanks to its simple and clean interface.
In the past, Boomy didn’t allow external distribution of the songs you created, though you could still earn some revenue through their own platform. Now, after many user requests, the Pro and Creator plans include full commercial rights.
With Boomy, you can make tracks in your preferred style or customize every part of a song to your taste. You can also add vocals — either generate them with AI or upload your own recordings.
In my testing, the interface was quite laggy and slow to respond. I kept getting error messages when adjusting certain settings. I’m not sure if it was due to high traffic or a bug, but it made testing and editing difficult. The generated music also wasn’t very high quality, though that might improve with the paid plans.
Overall, Boomy is a simple and fun tool for experimenting with music and creating background tracks.
