I received more than 300 images from DreamWave, and the ones shown above are just a small sample.

The likeness is impressive.

They look like me quite well.

However, many have a blank expression, and the overall look feels a bit flat.

Let’s compare a few of them side by side.

We’re getting close. Most of the images look a lot like me. There’s also plenty of variety in style, with changes in lighting, poses, and clothing.

Still, you can tell they’re AI-generated. They look a bit blurry, and the expressions feel empty.

The good news is that there are better options for the same price. Here are my favorite Dreamwave AI alternatives.

Dreamwave AI Alternatives

If Dreamwave AI isn’t giving you what you want, I can show you some tools that will.

I spent over $1,000 testing these so I could find the best ones for you. This way, you don’t have to spend as much as I did.

Here are the top AI headshot generators you can try:

1. BetterPic

Betterpic makes sharper and more natural-looking images. The teeth, skin, and face all look clearer and more detailed.

Here’s a before-and-after example I got with Betterpic:

BetterPic also has a human editing option that other platforms don’t offer.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Pick one of your result images.
  2. Click “BP AI Edit.”
  3. Write what you want changed. It can be anything.
  4. Click “Generate.”
  5. Wait 24 hours for the team to make the edits.

This way, you know you’ll have at least one AI headshot that turns out well.

2. The Multiverse AI

If you want more control over your images, try The Multiverse AI. It doesn’t just give you random results. It actually follows what you ask for.

You can describe exactly what you want in your images. For example, I asked the AI to make one of me at sunset in Spain:

Pretty great, right? This lets you make more accurate images for yourself or your team, so everything stays consistent.

👉 Try The Multiverse AI

3. PortraitPal

PortraitPal is one of the easiest and most effective AI headshot tools. It makes calm, vintage-style headshots from your photos.

The style feels calm but still professional. Here are some examples it made for me:

The only downside is that some images look too smooth, which makes it clear they’re AI or heavily edited.

Also, this tool only creates images. You can’t edit them.

Other than that, it’s a great alternative to Dreamwave, delivering strong results.

How to Use Dreamwave AI

If you’ve read this far, you probably want to know how to use Dreamwave AI.

Let me show you how simple it is.

To start, head over to this page and click “Get headshots.”

Next, choose a package. It’s on the pricey side, but I think the best choice is the standard one with 250 headshots.

Then sign up. I used Google so it was quick.

After that, answer a few simple questions so the AI can get to know you and pick your style.

Now it’s time to upload your images. But before you do, make sure you read the instructions carefully.

Now it’s time to upload your images. Before you do, read the instructions carefully.

Make sure your photos are clear, well-lit, and unedited. Show your face and use shots from different settings, not just a bunch of selfies.

When you drag and drop them in, don’t worry if some get rejected. A few of mine were too low-quality, so the AI asked me to upload replacements.

Once you’ve uploaded all your images, confirm your order and wait.

It takes around 20 to 40 minutes. When your images are ready, you’ll get an email like this:

Click the link in the email to see your headshots and enjoy.

If you want to make changes, use the AI edit button to adjust the background, teeth, and more.

These tools help you fix some of the usual flaws in AI headshots.

If you find one you really like, you can click the “Generate more like this” button to make many similar versions.

Pricing

  • Free: $0 (but with a long multi-week queue.)
  • Starter: $35 for 120 headshots
  • Basic: $59 for 250 headshots
  • Premium: $99 for 500 headshots

Pros

  • Fast. I only waited about 2 hours, which is quick compared to the days or weeks it can take with a photographer.
  • Realistic. Most headshots look good, though there are small flaws.
  • AI edits. You can tweak things like backgrounds or teeth with the AI edit feature.
  • Cheaper than a photographer. Even the $99 plan is far less than hiring someone to take and process 500 photos.
  • Free plan. If you’re not in a rush, the free option could work for you.

Cons

  • Too artificial. Many images are blurry and the expressions look blank. They seem fine at first glance, but the longer you look, the more they feel fake.
  • Pricey for the quality. Spending $35–$99 without a guarantee of great results can feel steep.
  • Better tools out there. There are other platforms that produce better results for the same or less money.

Takeaway

Dreamwave AI stands out by giving you more AI images than most tools, plus a free plan if you can wait. But the results can feel mass-produced and artificial.
