Let me show you how to record your screen on a Mac with the internal audio.

This is not a built-in feature, so you need to spend about 5 minutes on making it one.
In this guide, I will show you how to do that—step by step.
Step-by-Step Guide
#1 Install Blackhole

First, you need to install a free product called ExistentialAudio Blackhole.
You can do so here. Just scroll down to Installation Instructions and click Download the latest installer.

#2 Enter Your Email
Then enter your email to get a downloadable link.

It might take up to 15 minutes for the link to arrive. (Meanwhile, make sure to donate to this amazing project.)

#3 Install
Here’s the download link email:

Just click on it to start the installation process. Then choose BlackHole 2ch. This installs the package on your Mac.

Click on the installed package:

Run through the installation wizard:

And then install the software:

#4 Change Your AudioMidi Setup
Once the installation completes, hit Command + Space and type AudioMidi Setup:

#5 Create Aggregate Devices
Then, you need to create an aggregate device.
To do this, click on the left bottom plus icon and click “Create aggregate device.”

Once the device has been created, give it a name that you can recall (double-tap the name to change it.)
I call mine “Quicktime Player Input.”

Then choose the BlackHole installation from the right-hand side menu:

Then create another device. This time, a multi-output device will do.

Rename that device to “Screen Record with Audio.”

Then, for this device, choose the Built-in Output and BlackHole channels from the right-hand side.

Make sure that the order is the same as above! The Built-in Output should be on top and the BlackHole below it. You can select and de-select the audio devices to change their order.
Lastly, make sure to choose the Primary Device as Built-in Output.
Here’s what your multi-output device settings should look like:

#5 Change System Settings
Then head over to your Mac’s System Settings.

Then choose “Sound” and click on the Output tab.

Now choose Screen Record with Audio as your output device.

#6 Change Screen Record Settings
Then, open up your QuickTime Player and choose “Screen Recording”.

Then, go to the Screen Recording options. Choose the aggregate device you created earlier called QuickTime Player Input:

Now you’re ready! Then just record your screen. It will capture the audio of the internal device. This way you can for example screen-record a video etc.
#7 Reset the Changes
Once you’ve recorded your screen with internal audio, make sure to reset your changes.
In other words, just change the output back to the internal speakers or your headset.

You can find these settings in the System Settings > Sound > Output section. For example, in the above screenshot, I put my output device as my headset.
