The tool gave me a lot of images. Most ended up looking like selfies, probably because I used so many selfies as my input.

One thing that caught me off guard was the watermarks. Even on a paid plan, the images have them when you open them.
But if you download your image, those will go away.
The watermarks are there to protect you. They let you preview your images before deciding. If you don’t like them, you can get a refund. Once you download an image, it means you’re happy with it, and refunds aren’t available.

InstaHeadshots is great.
But there are some alternatives that are just as good or even better.
I’ve spent thousands to find the best AI headshot generators for you. So let me show you a couple of good alternatives.

Betterpic makes sharper and more natural-looking images. The teeth, skin, and face all look clearer and more detailed.

Next is The Multiverse AI.
It doesn’t just make AI headshots. It also lets you fully customize them by telling the AI exactly what you want to see.
You can tell it exactly what you want in your images. For example, I asked the AI to make one of me at sunset in Spain.

Other than that, it’s a great alternative to InstaHeadshots and gives strong results.
How to Use InstaHeadshots
Sign up for the service and create a new profile.
Pick the best plan for your needs.
Read the instructions first. You just need to upload clear, close-up images without other people in them.
Upload your images, answer a few questions, and wait. For me, the results were ready in about an hour.
When they’re done, click on your profile to see your images.
Then click on a page that looks like this again:
And here are your AI headshots.
As I mentioned earlier, there’s no way to edit the images. You can only view or download them.
Pros
- Fast. I only waited about an hour, which is quick compared to the days or weeks it can take with a photographer.
- Realistic. The headshots look realistic, though there are small flaws.
- Cheaper than a photographer. Even the priciest plan, close to $100, is still far cheaper and easier than hiring a photographer.
- Free plan. There’s a free option if you don’t mind waiting.
Cons
No AI edits. You’ll need another tool from the alternatives list if you want to make changes, since InstaHeadshots doesn’t offer editing features.
Too artificial. Many images are blurry, and the expressions feel blank. They look fine at first, but the longer you look, the more artificial they seem.
Still a bit pricey. While cheaper than a real photographer, it can feel expensive since many AI tools have free trials.
