In this post, I‘ll review Jenni AI. I tested it for AI blog post writing and will show you the results, and go through the pros and cons. In my reviews, I’ll only test free tools or tools with a free trial available.

How to Use It

Here is how to start writing with Jenni AI, go to their website.

Click on “Start writing” and sign up. You are asked about your current role to customize your user experience. I picked “Masters”.

My Results

This is the dashboard. You can start writing from scratch, and the AI will make suggestions for the next phrases to complete your text, or start with a prompt.

Starting with a prompt opens this window, where you need to describe your idea for the article. Try to be specific so the AI has something to grasp and can generate higher quality content.

My idea for the article was provided by ChatGPT.

First, the title and headings are generated, and the AI starts to generate text phrase by phrase. You need to either accept the text suggestion or you can click on “Try again” if you’re not happy with the suggested output.

This way, you get to customize every phrase, but this will take a lot of time, obviously.

Jenni AI is a research-focused AI platform, and it provides citations into your text and even generates a full list of references. This wasn’t available with the free trial, though.

With a quick glance, citations were actually accurate and from well-respected journals.

Jenni AI has an AI chat feature that allows you to interact with your current document or even a PDF. For example, here I had opened one of the reference PDFs, and I was able to ask the AI chat to summarize it or ask questions about the PDF.

You can also import your existing citations.

To make using Jenni AI even easier, it provides a full list of shortcuts that allow you to operate with the keyboard only, making content creation even faster.

  • Output has a very AI-like tone

Jenni AI is an AI writing assistant platform designed to help students, researchers, and writers create high-quality academic or professional content.

I tested Jenni AI mainly for AI-assisted blog post writing. And for that purpose only, Jenni AI is just another AI assistant tool. Language was very AI-like and vague, which in my opinion, is not suitable for an academic text, maybe for a blog post, yes. Also, the citations are not needed when writing a blog post (maybe unless you’re actually referencing something), but I think those can be turned off. Otherwise, I think Jenni AI had very convenient features, like the AI chat.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to using AI for academic purposes or for your school assignments. Using the auto-citation feature may seem useful, but there is a risk for accidental plagiarism, and the responsibility is on the writer. Also, submitting work without disclosing the AI use is generally frowned upon.
