Rytr AI Review 2025: Can It Help You Write Better Fiction?

In this post, I’ll be testing Rytr, an AI writing assistant built mainly for short-form content.

It can be used to create all kinds of content, and with over 40 templates to choose from, you can easily pick the ones that best match your needs.

I tested how suitable Rytr is for AI-assisted fictional writing.

Let’s dive in!

How to Use It and My Results

Using Rytr is easy, and you can try it out for free. Enter their website and sign up. I just signed up with my Google account.

After signing up, you should land here, at the dashboard.

Here are snippets of different writing features. Looking to write in some other language than English? Rytr has you covered with support for 30+ languages. Keep in mind that the Free plan limits you to just one. You can also adjust the tone to better match your content style and audience.

There is a list of different templates to choose from, I used “Story Plot” to test fictional writing. With the Your Voice feature, you can train the AI to generate text that sounds exactly like you and matches your requirements.

And our hero Nakki the labrador is exploring the world again. This full chapter of text was generated based on my prompt about a story idea.

Pros

  • Free and easy to use
  • Simple interface
  • Lots of features to support your writing
  • Can be used for all kinds of content

Cons

  • Very limited credits with the Free plan
  • UI looks cheap
  • Text generated sounds a bit too AI, and might require editing

Pricing

Here are the pricing plans of Rytr. The Free plan gives you 10,000 credits/month, which is not a very large amount, and is enough for a short story.

To Take Home

Rytr is best for budget-concious writers, who are looking to create large volume of short-form content. It works for longer content too, and even creative writing, like fictional writing, but might require some human editing.

It can be customized by training it with Your Voice to match your personal writing style. It comes with convenient features, like Chrome extension and plagiarism checker.

Rytr is a good tool to speed up your writing process, but I can’t generate high-quality content similar to human.
