Typically, AI headshots cost $40-$50 for 100 images. That’s a lot!
Today, I’m happy to tell you I’ve found a cheaper alternative that produces just as good results.
I’m talking about PhotoPacks AI.
👉 Check the updated list of Best AI Headshot Generators.
In this post, I will show you how it works, what kinds of results I got, and how it compares to other headshot generators.

How It Works
Let me show you how easy it is to use PhotoPacks AI first.
#1 Create an Account
First, you need to sign up for PhotoPacks AI.

Click on “Get Your Headshots”.

#2 Place an Order
Then buy the AI photo pack:

#3 Specify Your Characteristics
Answer questions related to your characteristics. This way, the AI learns who you are and can better understand what kinds of headshots it should create.

#4 Pick a Style
Then you get to choose the main style for your AI headshots. This is literally like shopping for physical photoshoots, but everything happens in the comfort of sitting on your home sofa.

I picked the Business photoshoot as I want to use these photos on my social networks.
#5 Upload Your Images
To make AI headshots possible, the AI also needs to learn what you look like. This happens by sending over a bunch of images of yourself.
Please check the instructions to get the best possible AI headshots back.

Just use clear images that are of high resolution (mobile device camera images are good). Don’t make silly faces, and don’t show up with anyone else in the pictures.
Here are my real images that I sent to the AI:

#6 Wait for the Headshots
Once the upload completes, it’s time to wait.

For me, it took about 3–4 hours to receive the headshots from the time I had placed the order. However, they warn that it might take up to 24 hours during the busy times.
#7 Check Email
You obviously don’t need to keep the window open. The headshot generation process takes place on PhotoPacks’ AI servers. They’ll let you know via email once the photos are ready.

Once you get the email, click the link to sign in and view the headshots:

#8 Enjoy
For example, here are some AI headshots that I got from PhotoPacks AI:

Those look cool! And most importantly, they look exactly like me. They’re also versatile, well-lit, and mostly flawless.
Here are more AI headshots that I got:

Here’s my favorite business AI headshot that I got from PhotoPacks:

Speaking of least favorites, don’t be disappointed if you get a lot of unusable headshots.
For example, here’s one of my least favorite headshots:

From what I’ve seen, AI headshots usually have about a 20% hit rate — maybe 2 out of 10 are actually usable.
A lot of them come out weird, distorted, or just off, which is pretty standard across all AI tools, not just PhotoPacks AI.
That said, it’s still worth trying. Out of the 100 I generated, I ended up with 10 to 20 that I’d actually feel good using on my socials.
PhotoPacks AI vs. Free Headshots
These days, you can use ChatGPT to create headshots for free.
Just drop a bunch of images to ChatGPT, tell it to create headshots, and wait for a minute.
For example, here’s what I got:

Here’s another one:

Those look really good, too, I have to be honest.
But I think PhotoPacks still gets the win.
Just as a comparison, here’s the before/after image that PhotoPacks made for me:

The image looks a lot more like me, in my opinion.
But one thing I must say is that ChatGPT headshots beat the worst headshots that I got from PhotoPacks AI.
For example, this one:

That’s a bit uncanny and looks like an AI-generated image, for sure.
On the other hand, this one looks more like a real photo, and there’s nothing strange going on with my face.

However, I don’t have a round face like that. Also, there’s still a bit unrealistic vibe in the ChatGPT headshot too—especially if you zoom in closer.
So, I would still go with paid AI headshots.
Also, if you try to search for free AI headshots, you’ll find companies like Supawork that produce results like this:

Yeah… Stay away from free headshot generators; that’s all I say.
Obviously, this is all based on my own opinions (and some mates that I asked to check my images). But your mileage may vary. If you want to create free headshots, you can try ChatGPT. It’s the best free headshot maker right now. But based on my experience, it creates images that don’t look that much like you.
PhotoPacks vs. Other Paid Generators
As I’ve said in many of my videos and posts, my favorite overall AI headshot generator is BetterPic.io.
But their service is costly. For the best results, you should get the Expert plan for $79. That includes all the AI editing options and human edit features.
That being said, BetterPic images are epic too, and the edits are icing on the cake, making it the best headshot generator overall. But as I said, it’s quite costly. If you’re on a budget, I’m sure you’ll be more than satisfied with PhotoPacks AI headshots.
Pros
- Easy to use. Just sign up, answer a couple of questions, upload some images, and wait.
- Realistic. The results look very close to what you look like—unless people know you very well, they can’t tell it’s an AI headshot. In some images, it’s impossible to tell the difference.
- Better than free tools. The results are far better than what free AI headshot makers create.
- Saves time. This is much more convenient than attending a real photoshoot.
Cons
- No customizations. All you get is your images. You can’t edit those. If an image is a miss, it’s going to stay like that.
- Waiting times. This tool takes up to 24 hours to render the AI headshots. This is a lot slower than other paid AI headshot makers. I’ve seen results in less than 60 minutes with other tools.
Pricing

PhotoPacks headshots only cost $19.
My Take
I’m a fan of my AI headshots — found a bunch that look like me. For socials, especially LinkedIn, I think they’re fine.
I wouldn’t use AI for big life moments like weddings, but for looking sharp online without the hassle of shoots, outfits, or awkward posing? Way easier.
Downside: It’s hit or miss, and you can’t tweak the results on PhotoPacks. But you get so many, you’re bound to end up with a few solid ones.
