How to Use It and My Experience

Here is how to start generating music with Udio! Go to their website by clicking here and sign up with your email or Google account to access the Free trial.

I just went with this interesting, randomly generated username.

After signing up, you are directed to the dashboard, and you are ready to start creating.

Creating songs is text prompt-based, only a brief description of the song and the style is needed. You can also upload your own audio.

The song can be generated with your own lyrics, no lyrics at all (instrumental), or let the AI generate them automatically.

Open the Lyric Editor under “Custom” menu to insert your own lyrics. You can also use the Write for me feature to let the AI generate the lyrics and then edit them by hand afterwards.

The majority of the settings are only available upon paid plans, but you can do some minor adjustments with the Free trial. The “Lyric Timing” setting lets you decide the lyric placement within the song. You can also change the duration of the generated track or set it to Auto.

Other settings, like Lyric and Prompt strength, can be adjusted to control how much they influence the song.

Under “Advanced settings,” you can adjust clarity, which determines the separation of instruments and how clear the audio is, and Seed, which is a number that determines the contents of the tracks.

Here are the finished products, two tracks of very different genres, fully generated with AI.

First one is an 80s garage punk song, prompt: “A song about socks disappearing in the wash, 80s, punk rock”.

The second one is a hyperpop song about killing houseplants. Prompt: “A song about a houseplant that you killed, electronic pop, female vocals”.

The lyrics are quite simple and vague, but so were my prompts. The tracks turned out catchy and followed the prompts well.

You can listen to the sample tracks I generated by clicking on the links below.

To Take Home

Udio AI is a music generator that helps anyone create songs with the help of AI.

Their goal is to make music creation easier and open new possibilities for creators.

You can make a song in Udio with a simple text prompt or a short description of the style you want.

You can also upload your own audio, add lyrics, or let the AI handle it all.

Once the track is made, you can tweak it to your liking.

In my view, Udio is best for beginner to intermediate users.

More advanced producers or music creators might find it too limited.

Overall, it’s a solid and simple tool for making AI-generated music.
