I tested the accuracy of ZeroGPT AI detector with six different text samples.
In this post, I’ll show the results and review the tool.

How to Use It
Using ZeroGPT is very easy. Once again, just enter their website and you see the AI Detector on the landing page. No need to sign up to use it.
Just paste your text there directly or upload a file. You can check up to 350,000 characters without subscription.
My Results
I have six pre-selected text samples I used to test the accuracy of the tool. Three of them were snippets from my old Medium posts, hand-written by me. And the other three were just random texts generated by ChatGPT, which makes them 100 % AI-generated.
First, let’s test the human-generated samples.
It rated all of the text samples human-written but may include parts that are generated by AI. Usually this means using AI text enhancement like Grammarly. This isn’t the case with these text samples.
The sentences highlighted in yellow have an AI-like structure, and the tool thinks it’s likely generated by AI. This can mean the language is very general and lacks personality, or the the sentence is very long etc.
Let’s try the AI-generated samples next.
Those were correctly flagged as AI-generated.

- The ads that appear after the scan can get a little irritating
- Flagges some of my human-written sentences as likely AI-generated

To Take Home
ZeroGPT is an AI-assistant platform. It has other features in addition to AI Detection, like AI Summarizer, Paraphraser and Plagiarism checker that are available for Premium users. The AI Detection tool was able to flag my AI-generated text samples as AI, but some of my human-written sentences got also falsely flagged as AI-generated. So, it’s a solid tool but not the best out there.
The ads that start flashing when looking at the result page are quite annoying. I guess they are removed with the Premium plans.
