I tested over 20 digital business card platforms, and I found Tapni to be the best.
It turns paper business cards to digital ones and lets you share contact info with a tap or QR code — no more lost cards.
In this post, I will show you how to use it and what kinds of results you can get with it.
Let’s go!

My Experience
Heads up: You don’t need a team or a company to use Tapni digital business card.
If you’re a solo user, freelancer, or just testing it out, go to tapni.com/app/welcome or grab the free app for iOS/Android.

You’ll have your digital business card live in 60 seconds. No admin. No setup mess. Just your link, your brand, your way.
To create a Tapni business card, you need to sign up for Tapni Business. In this post, I will focus on using Tapni for businesses.

The Tapni Business is designed for the centralized management of multiple individual profiles, which is especially great for companies. This allows managers to control the company accounts individually and in groups easily.
Nonetheless, once you’ve signed in, start by creating a profile.

Specify your email and full name.

Then you get to customize your business card profile. You can add information such as name, bio, role, assign the card to a team, and more.

Notice that you can control the links that appear in the profile as a business owner in Tapni. This means that whenever a new employee creates their card, you can force certain links and templates to their profiles. I will talk about those a bit later in this tutorial and show you how to do it.
But, for example, right now, the customization adds these four apps to each new business card profile:

Then, the most important thing is the contact card. This is the public contact card, or the digital business card, that you can share digitally at events and such.
With a single tap, contact card users can download your contact details directly into their phonebook.
Make sure to fill in your information on the card.

In the contacts tab, you can see a list of contacts you’ve connected with your card.

Also, if you want to use your digital business card to capture leads, you can create a lead capture form.

The lead form shows an Exchange Contact button at the bottom of the contact card page. When someone visits your profile, they can click the button and fill in their contact details, which will then be sent to you in the app.

You can also add social media apps to your contact card. Tapni supports almost 80 most popular apps.

One thing that’s cool in Tapni is the ability to segment the business cards into teams. This is useful for bigger companies. For example, here I’ve assigned Alexander’s profile to the Leaders team.

Now, when you share the profile, the person you’ve shared it with doesn’t have to type anything down. Instead, they can use the app icons to take action. For example, if they want to save your contact details to the phonebook, they can click “Save Contact” and that’s it.

Adding access points like this is easy. Just go to the contact card section of your business card and enable the links you want to have in your card.

Next, let’s talk more about the Contact Exchange option that I mentioned earlier.
If you choose the contact exchange option on your card, you will see a button like this on your card:

When someone who views your profile clicks that button, this is what they will see:

Now, when they fill in their details, you will receive the contact details in your Tapni App in the Contacts section.
This is one way to collect contacts. Another way is by importing them.

You can drop an Excel sheet into the view to get contacts to Tapni.

Then, let’s talk about profile templates.
I showed you just one profile type before, but obviously, you can customize everything. There are pre-built templates you can use to make the profile stand out.

You can also create a brand new profile template with the “Create New” option.

There, you can customize everything from scratch. You can change the logo placement, cover, and more.

Whatever template you use, you can assign that to specific teams or people in your company.
This is useful for bigger teams. For example, if it’s Christmas time, you can create a Christmas theme for your employees and easily apply it to everyone.

Then let’s talk about the QR codes. One of the most common and easy ways to share contact cards and information is by creating a QR code. That’s because these days everyone has a smart device with which they can easily scan these codes.
In Tapni, you can create a QR code in the Profiles > QR Code Templates section.

There you’ll find a bunch of nice-looking non-generic QR code templates.

Once the QR code is ready, you can use it on your business card.

Also, you can create your QR code template.

You can pick specific images, colors, and fonts for your QR code. You can also download QR codes for any profile. Use them in brochures, marketing, or events.
Then, let’s talk about wallet templates.

The Tapni wallet templates are one of the key features of Tapni. The idea is that you can have your business card in your Apple/Android wallet. This is super handy, since it allows you to show the business card by just double-tapping the iPhone’s on/off button.

You can create your custom wallet cards, too.

Needless to say, the wallet cards are customizable too. You can add primary, secondary, and auxiliary labels, tweak colors, and more.

Then, let’s move on to the contact exchange templates. I mentioned earlier that you can create a “Contact Exchange” button on your profile. But I didn’t mention that you can also customize the contact fields.

To do this, choose “Form Templates”.

You can pick one of the templates or create a new one from scratch.

Then you can choose which fields will be asked in the contact exchange form and what the form will look like.

Another super useful feature for Tapni is the ability to use your contact card in your email signature. Whenever you send an email, your contact card will be added to the end of the email automatically. You can turn your digital business card into a signature by heading over to the “Signature Templates”.

To create a signature, click “Create”.

Then create your signature. You can upload your photo, add some basic information, and add a QR code, for example.

Here’s a sample signature:

Then you have the background templates. These are useful if you’re doing meetings or conferences. You can sneak your business card QR code into a nice-looking background for the audience to scan while listening to you.

You can choose the backgrounds from the background template library.

You can also create a Tapni business card wallpaper for your mobile device.
I wouldn’t put this on my personal phone, as it could disrupt my work-life balance. However, if you have a dedicated work phone, this is a fantastic idea!
All you need to do is set the background to display your QR code, making it easy for someone to scan and access your business information.

Then you also have the teams, which is a useful feature for bigger companies.

For instance, here I’m creating a “Blog Testing” team and adding people from my company to it.

You can do even further subdivision by assigning roles to different profiles in your teams.

For example, here I’ve created a Software Developers team with restrictions on their business cards:

In the above screenshot, I don’t allow them to add an Instagram link to their business card. Also, I’ve forbidden the ability to change passwords, edit pictures, and edit usernames. This is a silly one, but it’s just another example that shows what kinds of things you can do in Tapni.
Once you have a business card, you can check the contacts you’ve collected with it.

Then you can always export the contacts either directly to your CRM or to an Excel sheet, for example.

This is useful if you want to send an email to all contacts or run some campaign or anything like that.
Tapni also allows you to easily add links to specific apps or pages in specific teams.

For example, here I’ve assigned “Save Contact”, “Website”, “LinkedIn Tapni”, and “Instagram” to all my users.

That’s why, when I created the new profile, I saw those four links in the card:

You can easily control these. If you want to add more or fewer links to each new profile created, this is how you change those.
For example, to add the “Contact Sales” link to my sales team, first, I need to choose the link and click “Assign to team”.

Then I can type in sales and click “Save Links”.

Now, each sales team profile will have a save contacts option in their digital business card.
Notice that you can also store files in Tapni and create easy access to them. This is handy because you don’t need to store files in Google Drive, etc. separate places.
To save a file and create a link to it, go to the Gallery.

Drop a file into the view.

Pick the file, and copy the Tapni URL of that file.

You can either use this link or create a new, shorter custom link to it.

Last but not least, we have the analytics.
To see how well your company’s digital business cards are performing, you can access the Analytics dashboard.
This shows you the profile views, link clicks, CTRs, contacts, and more.

You can track analytics for individual employees, teams, or your entire company.

Isn’t that handy?
After testing over 20 digital business card platforms, Tapni is the most feature-rich and user-friendly option.
